What are Crystals?:
A Crystal or Gem (also called a precious or semi-precious stone, a fine gem, or jewel) is a piece of mineral, which, in cut and polished form, is used to make jewellery or other adornments. However certain rocks (such as lapis lazuli), or organic materials that are not minerals (such as amber or jet), are also used for jewellery, and are therefore often considered to be Crystals as well. Most Crystals are hard, but some soft minerals are used in jewellery because of their luster or other physical properties that have aesthetic value. Rarity is another characteristic that lends value to a crystal. Apart from jewellery, from earliest antiquity until the 19th century engraved gems and hardstone carvings such as cups were major luxury art forms; the carvings of Carl Fabergé were the last significant works in this tradition.
What Is Crystal Healing?:
Crystal Healing is an ancient healing technique that is all about the natural flow of energy, balance and wellbeing. The crystals are intuitively chosen and placed on the client to clear energy blockages to facilitate a sense of well being and peace.
What are the Chakras?:
The practitioner places crystals on different parts of the body, often corresponding to chakras, or places crystals around the body in an attempt to construct an “energy grid”, which is purported to surround the client with healing energy.
According to practitioners, when the stones are placed in the area of the chakras, the colour of the stones may be chosen so as to correspond to the colour which is said to be associated with the corresponding chakra. Stones are used at the feet to try to “ground” the individual, or held in the hands. Practitioners sometimes use crystal wands, which are placed near the receiver’s body, or near a certain ‘blocked’ chakra.
